Family Service

The family is the primary unit of society, the place where lofty principles are taught and where people learn to serve others. The responsibility for each person’s well-being rests first upon himself and second upon his family. When a person is not able to meet personal needs, the family has an obligation to assist. When families work together to lift and support one another, blessings of peace, love, harmony, and unity result.

"Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children" ("The Family: A Proclamation to the World," Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102).
