Assist in Developing Resources

Under the direction of the bishop, the Relief Society and priesthood quorums teach Church members to live providently, provide for themselves and their families, and care for others. Through visiting teachers, the Relief Society presidency becomes aware of sisters and families in need. As part of the ward welfare committee, the Relief Society presidency reports welfare need among the families of the ward, helps plan ways to assist needy families, and assists in coordinating the resources available within the ward.

"And behold, thou wilt remember the poor, and consecrate of thy properties for their support that which thou hast to impart unto them. . . . And inasmuch as ye impart of your substance unto the poor, ye will do it unto me" (D&C 42:30–31).
