Relief Society Suggest Work Assignments The bishop gives members who receive Church welfare assistance opportunities to work to the extent of their abilities for what they receive. Assisted by her counselors and the visiting teachers, the ward Relief Society president may assess the skills, work capabilities, and opportunities of family members during a family needs visit. She may suggest to the bishop work assignments that would be appropriate to the family's abilities. Often these work assignments and other work opportunities are discussed in ward welfare committee meetings. "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground" (Genesis 3:19). "Thou shalt not be idle; for he that is idle shall not eat the bread nor wear the garments of the laborer" (D&C 42:42). |
