Regional Organization and Officers

Regional Organization and Officers The Area Presidency calls a regional welfare specialist for each welfare region who serves two important functions: (1) welfare specialist to the region, and (2) executive secretary to the regional welfare committee.
Regional welfare specialists are experienced priesthood leaders who do the following:
- Provide welfare training to stake and ward priesthood and Relief Society leaders, including orientations for newly-called leaders.
- Coordinate annual production and donated labor assignments.
- Provide training to agent stake operating committees, assisted by the operations manager.
Provide information about locations, commodities, services, and work opportunities in local Church welfare operations.
- Assist in proposing and planning solutions to local welfare needs..
- Assist stake bishops’ welfare councils in evaluating the services of welfare operations and in identifying appropriate resources in the community..
- Assist in coordinating emergency response plans with community agencies..
- Assist in strengthening ward and stake employment programs..
- Prepare and mail regional welfare committee agendas and minutes of meetings, and perform other assignments as directed by the committee chairman..
