Volunteers can serve between 2 and 45 hours per week during the days, evenings, or weekends, depending on assignment. Members volunteering four hours or more per week may serve as missionaries as recommended by their Church leaders.
If you are interested in serving, contact your local bishop or the nearest employment center.
Volunteers can:
- Help people prepare career plans.
- Teach career workshops in meetinghouses, institutes of religion, employment centers, and other locations in the community.
- Visit businesses, schools, sources of educational financial aid, business development programs, and other services in the community.
- Fill clerical functions such as data entry, filing, records maintenance, or answering telephones.
- Provide telephone support by calling people being served by Employment Resource Services, answering questions, or taking information about jobs and other opportunities.
- Teach and counsel with stake employment specialists and others.
“That’s the Lord’s system! Voluntary donations motivated by brotherly love and willing sacrifice, and assisting others to help themselves. Such ensures dignity and self-respect” (Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign, May 1977, 84).
