- Larisa and her husband fled from their country as political refugees to the United States. After struggling to find employment, Larisa's bishop suggested she work at Deseret Industries. She eventually learned English and found a job with a major retailer. Her husband is now enrolled at Deseret Industries.

- After Israel Bilancieri immigrated to the United States he dreamed of opening another make-up studio, but English came slowly to him. His bishop recommended Deseret Industries where he now recieves English instruction and teaches others about grooming.
- A Refuge from the Storm
- Lily Santino becomes a refugee when her African homeland is ravaged by civil war. She eventually is united with her husband in the United States and starts a new life working at Deseret Industries.
- I Will Give Unto Them Line Upon Line
- After separating from an abusive husband, June comes to work at Deseret Industries. At first she is unable to even straighten one rack of blouses, but eventually she gains self-confidence, becomes a lead, and finds a job outside Deseret Industries.
- Strengthen the Feeble Knees
- A family has $40,000 in credit card debt and the father just had back surgery and is unable to work. The mother is self-conscious about her weight, but the bishop sends her to Deseret Industries where she develops confidence, gets a job outside of Deseret Industries and helps her family obtain financial independence.
