Basic Welfare Principles

Unity

Unity is a condition of harmony in belief, purpose, and esteem for one another. The scriptures teach that oneness is essential if we are to be followers of Jesus Christ. To be unified, each of us must learn the will of the Lord and do it so that collectively we may be as one before Him. As we earnestly seek to do the will of the Lord, we will be filled with charity, which is the "pure love of Christ." Once we reach that condition, we would never suffer one among us to be in need, and our desire to serve each other will grow to the point where each person is seeking the interest of his neighbor.

"And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them" (Moses 7:18).
