Preparing for Emergencies

Guidelines for Church Response

 • Most emergencies are handled by wards or stakes using local welfare resources and member volunteers.

 • When disasters affect more than one stake, the regional welfare committee chairman should coordinate the Church response.

 • When the needs of members exceed local resources, Welfare Services at Church headquarters may help coordinate a broad-based response. Disaster needs of victims who are not members of the Church may be met by Church humanitarian service.
