Caring for the 5,000
The Gresham Oregon South Stake undertakes a large humanitarian project to make school kits and other items for those in need. Everyone wants to participate from Primary age to high priests, as well as those of other faiths.

A Christmas in Peru
Humanitarian missionaries arrange for medicine to be given to children in an orphanage, but lack enough funds for a toy for each child for Christmas. Then a truckload of toys destined for another orphanage is not needed, and the 550 orphans each receive a toy.

A Donation From the Jesus Church
Members assist tsunami victims in Indonesia, purchasing and distributing goods to areas which are 99 percent Muslim. As the Suranto cry "We have a donation from the Jesus Church" rang out, grateful recipients line up to receive food, clothing, and other survival items.

The Food That Saved a Life
11-year-old Ruben plans to end his life because he can't find food for himself and his siblings. Then a truck filled with food pulls up, and the driver asks Ruben for directions. He is bound for Ruben's barrio. Ruben directs the driver, and food is delivered that will last his family for months.

A Dress a Day
Sister Marelle Gardner sees pictures of children wearing little more than rags and wonders if there is something she can do. She commits to make a dress a day for one year. After six months she has made over 200 dresses for the humanitarian center.

Hands that Serve
Joyce Robinson became afflicted with arthritis at age 72, but for the last four years she has spent each evening crocheting afghans to donate to those in need. She has made 202 afghans, which have been given to shelters, unwed mothers, and the humanitarian center.

A Simple Act of Kindness
A leper bandage arrived at the Humanitarian Center, and, although it looked like many hundreds of others, there was something special about this one. A note pinned to it explained why.

Our Daily Bread
Bakery equipment being replaced at Deseret Bakery is donated to the Trappist monastery whose equipment had failed, with no funds to replace it. The Church and the monastery work together and help eachother.

The Milk Depot
In 1932 the stake presidency of the Pioneer Utah Stake assigned the Relief Society presidency to contact dairies about donating milk for those in need. A home was chosen as milk depot where people could come to get milk. One little boy, who was not a member of the Church, came. Eventually his entire famile joined the Church.

And Feet Was I to the Lame
John and Nancy Hopkins accept a call to serve as welfare missionaries in Mongolia. There they see a woman carrying an eight-year-old boy who had been crippled since birth. A medical shipment arrives and inside is a child-sized wheelchair which is given to the boy.
